Everlight Electronics, an LED packaging service provider, and Opto Tech, a vertically integrated LED company, take advantage of the production capabilities of infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) LED devices.
Everlight said there is strong demand for IR LED devices used in silicon sensor chips and photocouplers, as well as uv-c LED devices used for disinfection.
Orders for some LED devices used to backlight laptops, tablets and LCD TVS have been delayed from the first quarter of 2020 to the second quarter, Everlight said, but demand could weaken in June.
In Everlight's overall revenue, IR and UV leds account for 25-30%, and LED devices used for backlighting account for nearly 20%.
Opto Tech says demand started strong in March and will continue through June. Shipments of IR AlGaInP LED devices are expected to double in the second quarter, and production capacity of IR and uv-c LED devices is insufficient to meet current strong demand, the report said.
Opto Tech reported financial results for the first quarter of 2020: consolidated revenue of t $1.164 billion (us $38.6 million), gross margin of 29.76%, net operating profit of t $132.6 million, net profit of t $121.5 million, net profit of t $0.32.
