Perovskite is a kind of light emitting material with low production cost, which is one of the focuses of LED industry research. However, the efficiency and stability of perovskite-based leds still need to be improved, and research teams around the world continue to carry out relevant studies.
Helio Display Materials, a spin-off from Oxford and Cambridge Universities, is reportedly pushing for the commercialisation of perovskite leds using intellectual property from the universities.

Helio Display Materials aims to take advantage of its technology to improve the color performance of existing light sources such as LCDS and OLeds, as well as optimize the next generation Mini/Micro LED Display technology. With proprietary technology, the company is developing color conversion films and matrices that convert blue leds into RGB full-color backlights to increase color saturation. It is claimed that the matrix technology can also be used in Micro LED technology.
It is understood that realizing full color RGB is one of the challenges in producing Micro LED. In particular, the production of Micro LED red light chips will face low yield and low efficiency problems. So the researchers have come up with a number of solutions to this problem, including perovskite.
