Information

Buenos Aires, Argentina (Reuters) - Argentine capital Buenos Aires has become the first City in Latin America to use all LED bulbs in its municipal lighting, local media reported earlier this month.
All of Buenos Aires's 160,000 street and landscape lights and other municipal lights have been replaced with LED lights, reducing annual public lighting consumption by 50 per cent and saving 85,000 kilowatt-hours a year, equivalent to a reduction of about 44,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. At the same time, it will save 30 percent of public lighting maintenance costs each year.
In addition, the renovation project will include the establishment of an intelligent management system for municipal LED lights, and remote real-time monitoring of public lighting throughout the city by a computer system in the control center.
