Ceiling or Fixture Height 

The right beam angle for your space will be determined by the distance between the light and the object or area it is illuminating. 

If you have very high ceilings, you will need a narower beam angle for both recessed and overhead lighting in order to successfully illuminate the area. A wider beam angle is not as intense as a narrow beam and the beam will not reach down as far, but the light will spread out farther.
