At present, the lighting of expressway tunnels consumes huge amount of electric energy, especially in western China, where there are many tunnels with little traffic flow and less traffic at night, resulting in a large amount of waste of electric energy. To this end, combined with the actual situation in the west, a new lighting application scheme for highway tunnels is proposed. LED lights combined with segmented control technology are adopted to realize the purpose of intelligent brightness control, changing lighting with the movement of vehicles, and maximum energy saving through the experiment of simulated tunnels.
At the World Climate Conference in Copenhagen, Premier Wen Jiabao pledged, on behalf of China, to reduce co2 /GDP by 40% to 45% by 2020 compared with 2005 levels. China is mountainous, with mountainous area accounting for 2/3 of the total area of the country, which has brought great inconvenience to traffic construction. By the end of 2009, there were as many as 6,139 highway tunnels in the country, including 190 extra-long tunnels and 905 long tunnels. The electricity consumed in tunnel lighting is quite huge. So we study the lighting method of expressway tunnel.

1 main points of tunnel lighting design
During the day, when the driver drives the vehicle to approach, enter and pass the tunnel from outside, if there is no lighting device in the tunnel, there will be a "black hole" at the entrance and a "bright hole" at the exit due to the great difference in brightness between inside and outside the tunnel. Driving into and through tunnels with lighting systems at night, on the other hand, can cause safety accidents. For this reason, "Highway Tunnel ventilation and lighting Design Code" has formulated the relevant specifications, the entrance section, the transition section, the middle section, the exit section of the brightness has made detailed provisions

2. Design scheme of LED smart lamp
2.1 Comparison between LED intelligent lighting and traditional lighting in the tunnel
1) Traditional tunnel lighting scheme
In order to save energy, the traditional tunnel lighting scheme usually adopts level 4 lighting, namely the four lighting modes of sunny day, cloudy day, cloudy day and heavy cloudy day. This control mode generally adopts the control of the number and location of lights to achieve the purpose of hierarchical lighting. The lamp is also the traditional high pressure sodium lamp, due to high pressure sodium lamp light source power specifications universal only 100 W, 150 W, 250 W and 400 W, and many basic highway tunnel lighting lamps and lanterns and only 40 ~ 120 W, but at present the basic of the tunnel lighting usually choose 100 W, 150 W or higher high pressure sodium lamp [3], widespread excessive lighting, or to the problem of manual control.
When designing the power of lamps, a certain maintenance factor must be taken into account, so as to ensure that the intensity of the lighting can still meet the requirements of the specification in the actual operation process when the brightness of the light source is reduced by more than 30% due to brightness attenuation and pollution of the lamps.
According to the Highway Tunnel Ventilation and Lighting Design Code, the maintenance coefficient is set at 0.7. If a tunnel actually needs 80 W lamps, the power of the lamps at the design time should be at least 115 W. At the same time, it should also take into account that the lamps will lose as time goes by, in order to ensure that the lamps can meet the design specifications, there must be a certain amount of redundancy, generally take 1.7 times, then the design of the lamp power is higher than 136 W, so choose 150 W high pressure sodium lamp.

2) LED intelligent lighting scheme
LED has high luminous efficiency, long life, easy to control and other characteristics. If a tunnel actually needs 80 W lamps, the LED smart lamp can be controlled into 80 W to avoid excessive lighting. According to the brightness of the tunnel outside the intelligent control of tunnel LED lights lighting brightness, especially the entrance section, transition section of these two brightness control, namely, according to the design of the tunnel driving speed to design the road need more bright, lighting lamps and lanterns control more bright (LED intelligent light must also have a certain redundancy), in order to avoid excessive lighting, so that we can save energy, reduce pollution emissions.
