OLED, as a new generation of light-emitting devices, has attracted much attention for its wide light night Angle, fast response speed and high luminescence characteristics. OLED can be divided into fluorescent and phosphorescent types. The former has an internal quantum efficiency of 25%, while the latter can achieve an internal quantum efficiency of 100%. As a result, fluorescent OLeds are gradually being replaced by phosphorescent OLeds. However, blue phosphorescent OLeds still have their limitations: they don't meet color TV standards due to their low efficiency and brightness, making them difficult to use in displays.

The team solved the problem of low brightness and efficiency by adjusting the doping concentration to optimize the concentration imbalance between electrons and pores in the OLED layer. Although the current external quantum efficiency of dark blue phosphorescent OLeds (the actual emissitivity of light outside the material) is only 15 per cent, the researchers achieved 24 per cent by controlling the concentration of electrons and pores in the luminous layer.
