A new study from the University of Arizona Health Sciences reported that green light therapy can improve the quality of life of migraine sufferers by reducing the frequency and intensity of headaches. It is said to be the first clinical study to evaluate green light exposure as a potential preventive treatment for migraine sufferers

During the study, the patients were exposed to white light for 10 weeks and were exposed to white light for 1-2 hours per day. After two weeks of rest, the patients were exposed to green light again for the same 10 weeks. The researchers completed regular questionnaires and recorded measurements of headache frequency, headache intensity and quality of life, including the ability to fall asleep and stay asleep, and the ability to work.

The researchers noted that the average number of headache days per month was reduced by about 60 percent after treatment with green light. Of the patients in most of the studies, 86 percent experienced episodic migraines and 63 percent experienced chronic migraines, with survey results showing a reduction of more than 50 percent in the number of headache days per month.

It is understood that in general, episodic migraine is characterized by a maximum of 14 days of headache per month, while chronic migraine is 15 days or more per month.

In fact, the study's lead author has been studying the effects of green light therapy for years. A total of 29 people were enrolled in the first clinical study, all of whom had recurrent or chronic headaches that had failed to respond to traditional treatments such as oral medication and botox injections.
