In order to directly reflect the impact of china-us economic and trade frictions on the export trade of light industry, China light industry information center compiled the china-us export trade index of light industry. The export trade index of light industry between China and the United States is based on the quarterly cumulative value of the export of light industry to the United States. The index takes 100 as the critical value. A value above 100 indicates that the trade volume is higher than the corresponding period before the occurrence of china-us trade friction (2017), while a value below 100 indicates that the trade volume is lower than the corresponding period before the occurrence of china-us trade friction. Based on the availability of sino-us trade data, the sino-us trade index for light industry is released quarterly.

In 2017, the industry's cumulative exports to the United States were $10.20 billion, $11.05 billion in 2018, and $1.61 billion in the first quarter of 2020. Since the third quarter of 2019, the china-u.s. export trade index of the lighting appliance industry has been consistently below the critical value of 100. In the first quarter of 2020, the index dropped sharply to 74.14, 23.95 points lower than the previous period, and 24.12 points lower than the same period of last year, 3.17 points lower than the china-u.s. export trade index of light industry in the same period.
