LED lighting applications continue to expand. In 2002, the luminous efficiency of LED white light was 25lm/W, which was generally used in car dashboards. In 2004, the light efficiency was 40lm/W, and the application was extended to mobile phone backlighting and flashlights. By 2006, LED white light luminous efficiency reached 60lm/W, which was the time for automotive interior (ceiling) lighting and outdoor landscape lighting applications. In 2008, LED light efficiency reached 80lm/W, and applications such as automobile headlights, semiconductor lights and large-size LIQUID crystal backlights gradually emerged.

With the increasing attention to environmental issues in various countries, LED lighting is also getting more and more attention. Let's take a look at the environmental policies and green lighting programs of various countries. China has "Semiconductor lighting Project". The United States has a "next Generation Lighting Plan" to increase LED efficiency to 200lm/W by 2020; Europe's green lighting project is called The Rainbow Project. South Korea's plan is called the GaN Semiconductor Development Program. From the perspective of LED lighting technology development goals, there are two important time points, one is 2012, the other is 2020. In 2012, LED light efficiency will reach 150lm/W, life will be increased from 20,000 hours to 100,000 hours, can replace fluorescent lamps. By 2020, the lighting efficiency will reach 200lm/W, which can replace all current lighting products.
